VIDEO: Man, 21, Allegedly Shot by Police in Abuja for Refusing N200,000 Payment Demand

Date:

A 21-year-old man has reportedly been shot by unidentified police officers after allegedly refusing their demand for N200,000. The incident was shared by Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, in a video posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, showing the young man receiving treatment in the hospital.

According to Otse, the incident took place in Kubwa, a district within Bwari Area Council of the FCT, Abuja. “A 21-year-old boy was shot by police yesterday in Kubwa, Abuja, after they requested N200,000 and he couldn’t give it to them,” Otse stated in his post, which included footage of the young man’s injuries.

Expressing frustration, Otse questioned the safety of citizens, saying, “Are we supposed to be running from criminals and also from the police, who are supposed to protect us? This is getting out of hand. Just look at this young boy who was allegedly shot simply because he didn’t have N200,000.”

Otse called on the Force Police Public Relations Officer and the FCT Police Public Relations Officer to thoroughly investigate the incident, urging authorities to bring accountability and justice in the matter.
