- VeryDarkMan Backs Youth Takeover in Nigerian Politics
- Seyi Tinubu Could Become Lagos’ Youngest Governor at 42
Popular social media influencer Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has publicly endorsed Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, for the Lagos State governorship in 2027, should he decide to contest.
In a video shared on Instagram on Friday, VeryDarkMan explained that his support for Seyi stems from a desire to see younger Nigerians assume leadership roles in politics. The 39-year-old Seyi Tinubu, who would be 42 in 2027, could potentially become the youngest governor in the state’s history.
“If Seyi Tinubu decides to run for governorship…I’m going to campaign for him. I don’t do politics, but I’ll do politics because of Seyi Tinubu,” VeryDarkMan stated.
He described Seyi as a strategic political figure who, like his father, positions loyalists early in advantageous roles. According to VeryDarkMan, this approach could create opportunities for young Nigerians to gain significant political influence.
“Seyi Tinubu is a bridge to get something that I want, something that I believe will make Nigeria work,” he added, suggesting that Seyi’s leadership could catalyze a broader political shift among the youth.
VeryDarkMan also theorized that Seyi’s network of young loyalists could lead to a more youth-driven political system. However, he speculated that young Nigerians might eventually rebel against Seyi’s leadership, which he believes could produce positive long-term outcomes for the country.
Neither Seyi Tinubu nor President Bola Tinubu has made any public comments about the 2027 Lagos governorship race. Despite this, several groups have already endorsed Seyi for the position, signaling growing interest in his potential candidacy.
If he enters the race, Seyi’s candidacy could ignite debates about generational leadership in Nigeria and mark a significant turning point in the country’s political trajectory.
