Former President Donald Trump took to the airwaves late Tuesday night, calling his performance at the ABC News Presidential Debate his “best ever.” Speaking on “Hannity,” Trump claimed he faced a “three-against-one” scenario, referencing debate moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis, whom he accused of unfairly pressing him on various issues.
“They were tough, but I was ready,” Trump said, responding to his exchange with Davis over his stance on abortion. The former president doubled down on controversial claims, including a statement that some states allow abortions up until the ninth month. “The previous governor of Virginia basically said they’d decide after the baby is born whether to keep it alive or not. That’s why I acted,” Trump added.
Davis quickly fact-checked his comments, stating, “There is no state where it’s legal to kill a baby after it’s born.”
On the topic of a second debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump seemed hesitant, claiming her desire for a rematch was an admission of defeat. “She wants it because she lost,” he said. “Why should I do another debate if I already won?”
While Harris’ campaign is reportedly pushing for a second debate, set for October, Trump said he might consider it—but only on what he deemed a “fair network.”
Political analysts offered mixed reactions to both candidates’ performances. Fox News’ Brit Hume was critical of Trump, suggesting he relied too heavily on “old grievances.” Meanwhile, former Democratic Congressman Harold Ford, Jr. noted that Harris could have provided clearer responses to certain questions, especially regarding her shifting policy positions.
As the debate buzz continues, the question remains: will Trump agree to round two?
