Tinubu Applauds Guards Brigade’s Dedication to Securing Abuja, Urges Continued Excellence

President Bola Tinubu has praised the Presidential Guards Brigade for their unwavering commitment to securing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the seat of government, and surrounding areas. Speaking at the 2024 West African Social Activities (WASA) event in Abuja, Tinubu, represented by Minister of State for Defence Dr. Bello Matawalle, acknowledged the brigade’s vital role in maintaining national security.

“You have consistently demonstrated dedication by going above and beyond in planning and coordinating security measures,” Tinubu said. “Your operational efforts and ceremonial parades are highly appreciated. Your proactive approach to managing security threats has ensured the safety of the presidency, citizens, diplomats, and visitors alike.”

The president urged the brigade to maintain their compassion and excellence in executing their duties, adding, “Your sacrifices today secure our tomorrow. I thank you for your unwavering commitment to the nation.”

Tinubu also extended gratitude to the families of personnel for their patience and support, which enable officers to perform their demanding responsibilities. He expressed confidence in the brigade’s ability to tackle future challenges and inspire others in the armed forces.

Guards Brigade Celebrates Success Amid Busy Year

Brigadier General Adebisi Onasanya, Commander of the Guards Brigade, noted that the 2024 WASA event provided an opportunity to appreciate troops and their families for their resilience during a demanding year. The brigade recorded significant operational successes in the FCT and neighboring states like Nasarawa and Niger, while simultaneously handling national surveillance tasks.

Onasanya highlighted the importance of collaboration, thanking the Nigeria Police Force, DSS, Civil Defence Corps, and other agencies for their support. “This year’s WASA celebrates our cultural diversity and showcases the rich heritage of Nigeria, fostering unity in a relaxed atmosphere,” he said.

The event featured cultural displays, traditional dances, and activities such as a raffle draw, tug of war, and bonfire lighting. The brigade also reaffirmed its loyalty and readiness to contribute effectively to the security of the nation’s capital.

The Guards Brigade’s steadfast dedication remains a pillar of national stability, earning them recognition and continued support from the presidency.
