The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has ordered the immediate suspension of friday congregational prayers in mosques across the emirate and state at large.

Sulu-Gambari in statement issued by his Spokesman Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona on Monday described the monarch’s directive as a measure towards curtailing the spread of coronavirus pandemic in the state.

He urged all the District Heads, Village Heads, Ward Heads, religions leaders, community leaders, associations and groups to ensure strict compliance of the new order in their respective domains in the collective interest of humanity.

The monarch however advised security agencies, health officers, media practitioners and other workers of essential services to ensure adequate prevention while carrying out their constitutional duties.

He therefore urged religions adherents to continue to pray for the quick restoration of global peace, tranquility and economic prosperity which has been hindered by the spread of coronavirus infection globally.
