Rivers Gov Signs N1.1 Trillion 2025 Budget into Law

Date:

  • Budget Prioritizes Education, Healthcare, and Infrastructure
  • Fubara Pledges Prosperity Amid Political Criticism

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially signed the state’s N1.1 trillion 2025 budget, christened the “Budget of Inclusive Growth and Development,” into law. The signing took place just days after the budget was presented to the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led House of Assembly on December 30, 2024.

Announcing the development on his official X handle, Fubara praised the state legislators for their dedication to service and emphasized the administration’s focus on advancing key sectors like education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure.

“Today, I signed into law the 2025 Rivers State Appropriation Bill, estimated at N1.1 trillion,” Fubara stated. “This milestone represents our shared vision for a prosperous year ahead, focusing on inclusive growth and development across critical sectors.”

The budget marks a significant leap from the N800 billion allocated for the 2024 fiscal year. Fubara expressed gratitude to both the legislature and his executive team for their commitment, underscoring his administration’s mission to elevate the state’s socio-economic standing.

However, the move has sparked criticism from the state’s opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). The APC accused the governor of flouting legal processes, pointing to a recurring governance tussle between Fubara and factions loyal to his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Despite the controversy, Fubara reiterated his commitment to inclusive development and urged citizens to anticipate a productive year under his administration. “Together, we are working towards making Rivers State great again,” he concluded, wishing the people a prosperous New Year.

The 2025 budget is expected to drive transformative changes across Rivers State while navigating the challenges of political opposition.
