Independent National Electoral Commission insisted that the process to recall Senator Dino Melaye will start on Monday July 10, despite been served court injunction suspend the process.

INEC has both issues Mr. Melaye notification of the recall petition against him by his constituents, Kogi West Senatorial district; and issued timetable for the recall process, which will run between July 10 and August 19.

But Federal High Court Justice, John Tsoho, had contrarily on Thursday rejected ex-parte motion by Melaye to restrain INEC from carrying on with the recall modalities.

Justice Tsoho ruled that the status quo be maintained till the hearing of the motion on notice.

INEC official who chatted with The Nation asserted that the recall process will proceed.

“Federal High Court has not served us any order or ruling, even as at the close of work today.

“Nevertheless, our legal team will still be in the best position to advise us on what to do even if we have been served the court order

“We shall go ahead with out timetable on tha that states the recall modality and that starts on Monday.

“We will stop immediately anytime we receive court order refraining us to stop the recall process”, the source said.
