Senator representing Kogi West constituency, Dino Melaye, who has been facing threat to recall him by his constituent Tuesday sought supports from Senator colleagues at the plenary from being recalled.
This follows as the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has both notified him of the recall petition by his contituent and released the timetable for recall modality.
Mr. Melaye has from time to time accused his state governor, Yahaya Bello, as the mastermind behind the recall move.

Citing Order 14 of the Senate Rule, the Senator pleaded with fellow senators to rescue him.
Reacting to this, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the Deputy Senate President has allayed the fear of Mr. Melaye that the chamber is fully behind him and that the recall is dead on arrival.
“The laid down modalities for recall as contained in the constitution is a cumbersome one and will be Dino Melaye’s opponents have slim chance of success.
“The Senate will investigate the genuineness of the votes those that signed the recall petition.”
Although Mr. Ekweremadu admitted that verification by Senate is not contained in the constutution.
