Akwa Ibom State Chapter of Peoples Democratic Party has accused Preisdent Muhammadu Buhari of double standard, challenging him to resign if he can no longer function as president, just as he challenged late president Yar’Ardua to resign in 2009 owing to his health status.

President Buhari has been away in United Kingdom for the second round of medical treatment over undisclosed illness.

Publicity Secretary of Akwa Ibom PDP, Ini Ememobong, said this while an interview with Daily Sun. “I really sympathize with President Buhari. But if the illness prolong and as it is obvious he might not recover, Mr President knows what to do. Illnesses is no different.

“There are brief illnesses and prolonged ones. Unfortunately, it is brief illness that kills most

“Buhari has confessed that he was never sick before. Though we sympathize with him, the President must not remain on sick bed forever. Voters did not voted into office a sick president and he can not remain on sick bed, away from his duty forever.

“So if President Buhari finds that by reason of old age or health situations, he could not govern Nigeria or function properly, it is expedient for him to do what is honourable….just what he advised President Yar’Adua to do.”
