Kwara House of Assembly has passed the State Public Audit Re-enactment Bill 2021.
The Executive Bill was passed by the House after considering report of the House Committee on Public Account presented by its Chairman, Saheed Popoola, representing Ojomu-Balogun Constituency at the Committee of the Whole House on Tuesday.
Presenting the reports, Popoola explained that stakeholders at the public hearing on the Bill supported re-enactment of the law to strengthen the Office of the state Auditor-General.
The Bill was read for the third time by Clerk of the House, Hajia Haleemah Kperogi, prior to its eventual passage.
It seeks to provide for the establishment, appointment, duties, powers and immunity of the state Auditor-General.
The Kwara State Public Audit Re-enactment Bill, 2021 supercedes the existing law number four of 2021.
The Speaker, Mr Yakubu Danladi, however, directed the Clerk of the House to produce a clean copy of the bill for the state Governor’s assent.
