Atiku Abubakar has commenced the presentation of witnesses at the presidential election petition tribunal as he challenges the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 election. The Nation reports that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presented Buba Galadima on Monday, July 8.
Galadima has been a fierce critic of President Buhari and serves as spokesperson of the PDP presidential campaign team. Also, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole made an appearance at the proceeding. This is the first appearance of the chairman of the ruling party.
In contrast, the chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, has been attending the proceedings. Oshiomhole announced appearance as standing in for the party and President Muhammadu Buhari. He was accompanied by former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu.
Meanwhile, a chieftain of the PDP, Adamu Sani, assured Atiku that he would be declared winner at the tribunal. Sani while speaking to supporters of the PDP and Atiku on Wednesday, July 3, called for calm and prayers over the ongoing tribunal sitting.
He said Atiku needs to be declared winner of the presidential election so that he (Atiku) can deliver on his campaign promises to the people of Nigeria.
