kogi vote

Deputy-Governor Yomi Awoniyi

“We (PDP) can only win this election if it is free and fair, but will doubt that, judging by the body language of the opposition. But going by our projection, PDP will win with 55 percent of the votes.”

These were the words of the deputy governor of Kogi State, Yomi Awoniyi while speaking with journalists at Ileteju Ward 002 pooling unit, Mopa, Mopamuro Local Government.

The Kogi State governorship election held today at the 21 Local Governments was peaceful. The INEC officers arrived early and kick start the process immediately by 8am in all the polling units. Only that there was a little upheaval in Anyigba, Dekina Local government where touts launch attack some polling units if not for the immediate counter from security operatives who made arrest on the touts and made sure the situation was brought under control.

It was also recorded that the Card Reader machines malfunctioned at some venue, forcing INCE officers to resort to use of manual accreditation. Governor of the state, Captain Idris Wada who is running on the platform of PDP was also a victim of malfunctioned Card Reader as the machine failed to recognize his fingers for bio-metrics

Apart from this, governor’s wife, Hajia Halima Wada, was also a victim as her name was not found on the list of voters at her pooling unit, Odu 001 in Ogboyaga, Dekina Local government.
