- Elevations Include 11 AIGs, 16 CPs, and Thousands Across Other Ranks
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 8,053 senior officers in a sweeping elevation aimed at enhancing the morale and operational efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force.
A statement by the commission’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, on Wednesday detailed the breakdown of the promotions, which spanned all senior ranks. Among the notable elevations, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIG), while 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to substantive Commissioners of Police (CPs).
On Tuesday, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) advanced to the rank of ACP. Additionally, 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) were elevated to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents (DSPs) were promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents (ASPs) advanced to DSPs.
Prominent among the officers promoted were Anjuguri Manzah, Divisional Crime Officer at Onne Port Division; Ihunwo Josephine, Zonal Public Relations Officer for Zone 13 Ukpo; and Matilda Ngbaronye, former Public Information Officer for the African Union Mission in Somalia. Other notable promotions include Angela Precious Opara, IGP Secretariat, Force Headquarters; Felix Ekpoudom, Officer in Charge of Quick Intervention Unit, Akwa Ibom State; and Chinedu Ajaka, Admin Officer at 44 PMF.
For the DSPs promoted to SPs, notable names included Nnakwe Ugochukwu of the Ebonyi State Command and Fayiwole Julius Oluwadare, among others.
This wave of promotions underscores the commission’s commitment to recognizing hard work and dedication within the police force. It also aims to strengthen policing capacity across the country at a time when security challenges remain a priority.
