- Fubara Hailed for Standing Against Political Antagonism
- Governance Stability Celebrated at Odili’s Christmas Event
Former Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili, has commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his courageous leadership in resisting alleged attempts by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to dominate Rivers State politically.
Speaking at a Christmas night of songs he hosted in honor of Governor Fubara and his family, Odili described the governor’s actions as a bold stand against unnecessary political warfare. “Governor Fubara confronted a fierce, though unnecessary, battle for the soul of Rivers State. With fortitude, he prevented one man’s quest to make the state his private estate, emancipated Rivers people, and steadied governance,” Odili said.
Reflecting on the challenges, Odili noted that the crisis began over a year ago, in October 2023, but praised Fubara’s resilience and leadership in navigating the turbulent political climate.
Governor Fubara, in response, attributed the state’s triumph over the political crisis to divine intervention. He described the experience as a lesson in leadership and expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of Rivers people. “My strength is drawn from everyone here. God remains the ultimate liberator, and with Him on our side, victory is assured,” Fubara said.
The governor also emphasized his administration’s commitment to progress and assured Rivers residents of a brighter future. “As we look forward to 2025, we are determined to make each year better with remarkable progress,” he added.
The event drew praise from key figures, including Rivers State House Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo, Chief Judge Simeon Amadi, and former Minister of Transport Dr. Abiye Sekibo. They all commended Fubara’s leadership and resilience in steering the state through a challenging period.
Odili’s Christmas celebration was seen as a symbolic show of unity and support for the governor and his family, highlighting the collective resolve of Rivers leaders to defend the state’s interests against political interference.
