The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has called on President Bola Tinubu to reconcile and forgive the former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.
The appeal was made during a visit to the monarch’s palace by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FERMA, Chukwuemeka Agbasi, who were in Lagos for a two-day working tour to inspect facilities and commission projects.
In a related development, Aregbesola has reiterated the mission of the Omoluabi Progressives Caucus, a faction within the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Ilesa, he emphasized the group’s commitment to reclaiming the state and promoting unity and development.
Aregbesola urged members to expand the caucus’ membership across local councils and embody core values of discipline, courage, character, and competence.
Taking to his verified X account (formerly Twitter), the former Minister wrote, “I urge all members to embody the spirit of resilience, dedication, love, and unity, which are the bedrock of every successful endeavour. I also remind them of the need to fully align with our core ethos of discipline, courage, character, and competence.”
Expressing satisfaction with the progress of the group, he added, “I express great joy at the ongoing membership registration exercise, which has recorded remarkable growth. I encourage everyone to continue inviting more people to join our ranks and strengthen our collective resolve.”
The Oba’s call for reconciliation and Aregbesola’s drive for unity underscore ongoing efforts to foster cohesion within the APC and the broader political landscape.
