Council of Imams/Ulama condemns Kaduna train attack
The Council of Imams and Ulama in Kaduna State has condemned the terrorists’ attack on Kaduna-bound train which occurred on Monday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Council is the Nigeria’s umbrella body of Islamic scholars.
This is contained in a statement by the Council’s Secretary General, Yusuf Yakubu-Arrigasiy on Wednesday in Kaduna.
Yakubu-Arrigasiy described the incident, which, led to the death of innocent and promising Nigerians, as “tragic and of great concern.”
He, however, sympathised with Nigerians on the unfortunate incident.
“The council pray for quick recovery of those injured and the immediate release of those kidnapped,” Yakubu-Arrigasiy said in the statement.
According to the statement, the council observes that fighting bandits through sporadic tactics will not yield any desirable result, and therefore urged security agencies to restrategise.
The council further advocated proactive measures to secure villages and roads as well as protect lives and property.
