NAPTIP rescues 11 alleged victims of human trafficking, arrests one trafficker
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP), on Thursday rescued 11 alleged victims of human trafficking and arrested one suspected trafficker.
The Zonal Coordinator of the Agency in Kano, Mr Abdullahi Babale, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN} on Thursday.
He said that the rescued victims were recruited from Kogi, Ekiti, Edo and Ebonyi states.
According to the Coordinator, “The victims were travelling to meet their traffickers in Libya, Italy and Dubai, for prostitution and labour exploitation.”
He further disclosed that the 12 persons were intercepted by the Joint Task Force in collaboration with NAPTIP at a border post at Babban Mutum in Katsina state.
Furthermore, Babale revealed that the alleged victims were between the ages of 17 to 36 years while a 41-year old man amongst them is the suspected trafficker.
The Coordinator stressed that the Agency had launched an investigation and the culprit would be arraigned in court with immediate effect.
