Former President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki says #girlchild is a blessing to families and communities with their underlying strength which knows no bound.
Saraki, who joined the global community to celebrate International Day of the Girl Child day while sharing a photo with his daughters, added that when women are given the opportunity, they can drive great ideas at any levels.
“Today, across the nation and the world, individuals, families, communities, and organizations are lending their voices to acknowledge and celebrate the significance of the #GirlChild,” he wrote on Facebook.
“As a #GirlDad, who has been blessed with beautiful daughters; as a husband to an extraordinary wife; and a son to a remarkable mother, I have witnessed first-hand the strength that women have to drive great ideas and lead at the highest levels — when they are given the opportunity.
“This is why, as we observe the 2021 #DayOfTheGirl, it is my prayer that across Nigeria more leaders and institutions will join in the global efforts to support our young girls — so that they too can have equal access to the same opportunities as their male counterparts.”
International Day of the Girl Child or Day of Girls, declared by the United Nations to support more opportunity for girls and increases awareness of gender inequality faced by girls worldwide based upon their gender.
Meanwhile, the loving dad and Kwara ex-governor had earlier said one of his daughters was studying to become a medical doctor like him, just as he followed his father Olusola Saraki’s footstep, resonating his believe that women can dream big and follow their passion just as men do.
