Compulsorily retired Assistant Inspector General of police, Joseph Mbu was honored in his hometown, Etung local government area of Cross River state, for all his years of service.

According to Vanguard, while there he spoke on why the concept of State-owned police would not work.

According to Mbu, such a move would lead to anarchy and would not be helpful in any way to Nigeria.

He also revealed some future ambitions, stating that he would not be going into politics but would rather focus on Agriculture.

He had a word of advice for younger officers, telling them all to be transparent in their dealings and avoid bribery and corruption.

“The younger officers coming behind me should be transparent because you cannot take money and then fight crime; if you take money, you have compromised. But if you don’t take money and you remain committed, God knows how to compensate you and God has compensated me and I am happy the way I am” he said.
