President-Muhammadu-Buhari

The Nigerian Labour Congress has received support from the Njiko Igbo Forum, NIF, today Wednesday to support its industrial action over the fuel subsidy removal.

Though some factions of labour backed out of the strike, namely the Ajaero-led NLC, Trade Union Congress (TUC), NUPENG, and other labour unions.

Seems Wabba-led NLC is now not left alone in its struggle for reversal of fuel pump price back to N86.5 from N145 we have currently after the federal government declared downstream deregulation of petroleum.

President of NIF, Rev. Okechukwu Obioha, has described the present administration as a government of fraud and rigmarole in an interview with Daily Post.

He further said that President Muhammadu Buhari administration had failed to fulfill any of its campaign promises.

While urging the President of labour, Ayuba Waba-led NLC to ignore the industrial court’s ex-parte order, Obioha said “we can’t be talking of any court injunction because this is a government that does not respect rule of law.

“It has flouted so many judgments and orders of court; so we can’t be here talking about the black-market injunction obtained by the AGF.

“Courts of competent jurisdiction gave orders for the release of Nnamdi Kanu as well as Sambo Dasuki but the government never obeyed it; the President started giving reason why the order will not be obeyed; there is also order against electricity tariff increase, it was never obeyed.

“So, we are calling on all Nigerians to sit at home in protest; all the desperate measures by government to stop the strike should not be allowed.

“It is even quite curious that this same government is now recognizing Ajaero faction; the situation is like a lady who is good for friendship but not good for marriage. These are desperate measures.”

The Igbo group further accused President Buhari of trying to silence the voice of opposition, stressing that “the government is confused; it has no direction; that’s why they don’t want anybody to talk. We are no longer practising democracy, we have a pseudo-military administration.

“There is so much dishonesty on the part of this government; so much fraud against the masses and this is the time to resist it.”
