Late Osakwe’s devotion to Nigeria’s devt. exemplary – Anyim
A former Senate President, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, has described the late Sen. Patrick Osakwe’s devotion and loyalty to national development as exemplary.
Anyim stated this in his condolence letter to Mr Chris Osakwe, son of the late senator, which was made available to newsmen in Abuja on Friday.
He said that Osakwe demonstrated deep-seated patriotism and commitment to nation building during his time as a senator.
”He was a committed patriot and strong voice in the Fourth Senate. He stood for the truth and defended the interest of the ordinary Nigerian.
”As senate president, I benefitted from his wisdom and maturity. He stood for the truth, integrity and stability of the senate,” he remarked.
The former senate president said that the outstanding contributions of the late senator to nation building would be missed.
He prayed God for the peaceful repose of the soul of the late lawmaker.
”I pray God Almighty to console, comfort and grant you and the entire family the strength to go through this difficult period,” Anyim said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Osakwe represented Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly between 1999 and 2007.
He died in a London hospital on March 15 at the age of 73, after battling with an undisclosed illness.
