Media, a critical stakeholder, in combating crime — NSCDC Commandant
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kaduna State Command, says the media play a critical stakeholder in combatting crimes and criminality in every society.
The Commandant, Mr Godwin Miebi, spoke on Tuesday in Kaduna while marking the World Civil Defence Day
“The media and other relevant stakeholders have a crucial role to play in educating the general public on the need to always collaborate with security operatives in combatting the menace of insecurity that is currently threatening the very foundation of our country.
According to him, security is everyone’s business and urged civilians to see security operatives as partners-in- progress.
He urged them to feed the security operatives with relevant information as the latter risked their lives for our collective safety.
Miebi said that it was also pertinent for security personnel to know that they could not do it alone without the collective support of the people.
He said the corps has been collaborating with other agencies to combat crimes in the state.
Also speaking, the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna state, Mr Abdullahi Mudassir, said the command was collaborating with security operatives in the fight against criminals.
Represented by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Abubakar Haruna, the commissioner pointed out that security was everyone’s responsibility.
He said there was the need for the society to give security agencies useful information that could assist them to perform their responsibilities.
