Two farmers injured as herdsmen attack Yobe community
Suspected Fulani herdsmen have injured two farmers after invading their farmlands in Tila Kala Maina village of Gulani local government area, Yobe State.
The herdsmen were said to have stormed the community on Tuesday and allowed their cows to feed on farm produce, a development that scared the people in the farming community who fled the area for fear of attack.
One of the concerned community members told newsmen that the herdsmen in question on arrival started shooting sporadically with bows and arrows and in the process wounded two farmers namely: Isa Umoru and Rabiu Sa’adu.
One of the farmers who gave his name as Malam Ali condemned the unfortunate act in strong terms.
“The invading herdsmen met our people working on their farms and asked them to leave, they started feeding their livestock on our farm produce. They chased us to our houses and began shooting sporadically. We do not know what they are up to”, he said.
The locals commended the timely intervention of Gulani local government Chairman, Dayyabu Ilu Njibilwa who upon receipt of the report mobilized security agents, who succeeded in de-escalating the crisis and restoring normalcy in the community.
