Reno Omokri, a social commentator and former aide to then President Goodluck Jonathan, has said loyalty late Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff had for President Muhammadu Buhari is unflintching, describing him as a loyal friend to his principal.
Omokri also slammed those spreading negativity after Kyri’s the demise, asking them to quarantine their mouth and fingers.
He said, “Mallam Abba Kyari is dead. If you cannot say something good about him, please QUARANTINE your mouth and SELF ISOLATE your fingers!
“The man was a PERSONAL staff to General Buhari and he displayed one trait which I so admire, because I also have it-LOYALTY. I respect that!
“Abba Kyari was not elected. He was selected by Buhari to serve Buhari. And he did a good job serving Buhari. Take out your anger on General Buhari. He is the one you elected. Allow Abba Kyari rest in peace. If you have a friend as loyal as Abba Kyari, God has blessed you.”
Omokri, an ardent critic of Buhari government and his aides, had earlier sent his condolences saying that Kyari was “one of the more effective, active and loyal members of the kitchen cabinet. Whatever our differences, he loved Nigeria. Death ends any quarrel or difference. We will all die one day, if Christ tarries. May God also grant General Buhari the fortitude to bear the heavy loss he has suffered. In Christ’s name I pray.”
Abba Kyari was first appointed in 2015 as Chief of Staff by President Buhari.
Abba Kyari died of COVID-19 which he contacted after returning from Germany where he had reportedly gone to broker deal on power for the country, without the minister.
Most Nigerians didn’t recieve the news of Kyari’s death with sympathy as he was perceived as influencing Buhari his friend for personal gain at the detriment of the other personnel and the country at large.
Untill his death, the whereabouts of Abba Kyari was unknown to many citizens and media, even as the Federal Government was to unmask his health status and location. Lagos health commissioner had also debunked Federal Government claim that Kyari was receiving treatment in one of the Lagos State isolation centre, saying they didn’t know the whereabouts of the Chief of Staff.
Kyari was later announced death on Friday night. He was 81 years old.
