Lagos govt alert on patients suffering from Chloroquine poisoning for coronavirus treatment



Lagos State government cries out as hospitals have started receiving patients suffering from Chloroquine poisoning.

Lagos State government, through the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Health, Dr. Oreoluwa Finnih was quoted by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Gboyega Akosile, as saying that some hospitals in the state are now treating patients who took too many quantities of chloroquine, leading to poisoning.

Residents of the state have been warned to stop the massive consumption of Chloroquine as it is yet to be approved as a treatment for Coronavirus.

This comes a day after the president of the United states of America, Donald Trump announced during a White House briefing that the drug has been approved as a possible treatment for Coronavirus.

Nigerians in a bid to prevent contracting the deadly virus immediately rushed to the pharmacists to purchase and drink Chloroquine but are now ending up in hospitals for poisoning.

NAFDAC has approved the production of Chloroquine for clinical trials in the treatment of Coronavirus but it is yet to be approved for the treatment of the COVID-19.
