The president of Portugal has professed his love for President Muhammadu Buhari, pleading to visit in his country even if it will be half-day.
President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa was quoted as saying “Please come, we’ll like to see you. We’ve been waiting for you for three years. Please come, even if it’s for just half a day. Many African leaders have visited us, but we want Nigeria. Please come to Lisbon.”
This was according to Mr Femi Adesina, the President’s Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, during a chat between Buhari and his Portuguese counterpart
Expressing his joy as “his head swelled as the world celebrates Buhari’s anti-corruption credential,” Adesina said he returned to bed fulfilled and happy being a Nigerian.
The President said our own President was looking quite well, saying, “You are so fit! Your opponents say you are ill. I guess that is just to disturb you.”
Adesina also quoted President ed Sousa as saying it was always inspiring for him, each time he sat near the Nigerian President, while inviting Buhari to open the event at the Europe-African Forum holding in Lisbon next year.
Responding, Adesina quoted President Buhari as saying he would consider the invitation, and apologized that he hadn’t visited all the while.
“I was very busy in the first term, knowing that I was going to face re-election. Now that we are in second and final term, we will consolidate on what we’ve done in first term, so that I can retire in peace and comfort.”
Meanwhile, FELLOW PRESS had reported that during the United Nations General Assembly holding in New York, Buhari and other African leaders called for repatriation of stolen fund by corrupt politicians starched in western countries.
