Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has advocated for security and human dignity as cardinal principle for government in leading its people, while commemorating World Refugee Day marked June 20 every year.
Jonathan said, “As the world celebrates #WorldRefugeeDay, may we be guided by the virtues of love, justice and tolerance as we relate with one another.
“Governments should prioritise security and human dignity as cardinal principles of governance. We should never get tired of giving a helping hand to refugees all around the world. #StepWithRefugees”
United Nations General Assembly on December 4, 2000 passed resolution from June 20, 2000, to mark World Refugee Day to honour all refugees, solicit support and raise awareness.
