Hello readers! Here are some of the Nigeria news online today:

1). The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Olukoya Ogungbeje, lawyer to the alleged billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, also know as, Evans.

The lawyer was arrested on Wednesday morning by officers from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi.

2). Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has sacked his Chief of Staff and Son-in-law, Uche Nwosu alongside other appointees who will be contesting during the 2019 general elections.

The affected appointees were: Sir George Eche – Secretary to the Government of Imo State,. Chief Uche Nwosu – Chief of Staff, Government House, Dr. Paschal Chigozie Obi – Principal Secretary to the Governor, Hon. Kingsley Uju – Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations) and others.

3). President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday submitted his nomination and expression of interest forms purchased for him by the Nigeria Consolidation Ambassadors Network (NCAN).

Buhari submitted the forms at the All Progressives Congress, APC, National Secretariat in Abuja.

4). The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Wednesday submitted his governorship nomination form to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Ambode submitted the governorship forms at the APC headquarters in Abuja amid report of a face-off with his estranged political godfather and a National Leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu.

5). The Accord Party has expelled the former Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe, over alleged anti-party activities, which the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party said had caused chaos and anarchy in the party.

The National Secretary of the party, Mrs Abiola Ajaja, told journalists yesterday in Abuja that the party took the decision after they invited Okupe severally and he declined to honour the invitation and also refused to desist from his negative actions.

6). Pandemonium broke out on Wednesday night at Damasak Local Government Area of Borno as Nigerian soldiers and Boko Haram fighters engaged in fierce gun battle.

Reports had it that the attack started after the insurgents attacked a military formation, but met stiff resistance from troops.

7). The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday set up a ministerial committee to investigate the tremor witnessed in some parts of Abuja last week.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello, who briefed State House correspondents at the end of the meeting, said the committee set up on Wednesday was composed of the representatives of four ministries.

8). The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Wednesday, downplayed the reports of a face-off with his alleged political godfather and a National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu.

Ambode stressed that contrary to insinuations, there was no rift between him and Tinubu.

9). The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said there is no plan to shift the 2019 general elections.

The commission in apparent reaction to a report in one of the national dailies said that the newspaper’s headline “We May Shift 2019 Polls Over Threat Of Violence – INEC” did not reflect correctly the statement of INEC boss, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu at the Inter-agency Consultative Committee on Security (ICCES) meeting.

10). A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has given an order mandating the West African Examination Council (WAEC), through its Director General or any other designated officer of the council to depose to an affidavit confirming or denying that the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke sat for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination conducted by the council at Ede Muslim High School, Osun State, in May/June 1981.

The court also gave an order compelling WAEC through any of its any designated officers, to produce the ledger containing the results of all candidates that sat for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination conducted by the council at Ede Muslim High School, Osun state in May/June 1981, within five days of being served the order.
