Jonathan faulted over $23bn Greenfield refineries

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has been criticised for failing to build three Greenfield refineries in Lagos, Bayelsa and Kogi states.

According to Chief Perekeme Kpodoh, an All Progressives Congress chieftain, and a security adviser to the Beyelsa State Government, Jonathan did not give attention neither to the previously undeveloped refineries, nor complete work on the East-West Road.

Perekeme also accused Jonathan for not doing anything about the Brass Fertiliser company, LNG, the Brass Liquified Natural Gas and many important projects capable of enriching the undeveloped riverine area.

The APC chieftain said, “Many of our youths would have been gainfully employed if these projects have been done.”

Recall that $23 billion was awarded for the construction of three greenfield refineries by Jonathan-led government to a Chinese company in a Public Private Partnership, of which the Chinese vowed to contribute 80 per cent cost.
