President Muhammadu Buhari has called for swift action capable of providing and securing the future of the nation, as citizen are becoming impatient in reaping dividend of democracy.
The President said, “We must be charlatan of the worst order to our leadership if it does not provide and secure future. I must say that our nation is increasingly getting impatient waiting for the dividend of our democracy. It is our duty to ensure that we satisfy the yearnings of the millions of people who depend on us.’’
Buhari who was represented by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, during the 48th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association opening ceremony, held during weekend said African parliamentaries needed to work harder to guarantee progress in Africa.
About 18 African countries parliamentaries are in attendance at the event.
The President also commended the Imo Stata government in the area of hospitality, especially for hosting two African Presidents and important events in 2 weeks, urging both the legislature and executive arms of government to work together to “plan, implement and execute”.
