Senate approves new age qualification to run as Nigerian President, Senator, Governors, Reps

The Nigerian Senate has approved new age qualification for the running for the political offices; 35 years for office of Presidency, 30 years for senate and governor, 25 years for both Federal and State House of Representatives.

The campaign to allow youths to run the country has supported with ash tag #NotTooYoungToRun

The new age were approved yesterday Wednesday during the amendment of the 1999 Constitution.

Before now, a person must have been 40 years of age to be elected President or Vice President, 35 to be a Senator or State Governor, and 30 to be a Representative in parliament.
