The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ibadan Zone Sunday called on the Vice Chancellor of University of Ilorin, Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali to honourably resign his appointment to allow for independent investigation of fraud levelled against him.
This call was contained in a press release signed by Dr Ade Adejumo and Dr Deji Omole and made available to newsmen in Ibadan where they stated that the call became imperative in view of the monumental fraud revealed by an investigative report of a national daily which corroborated the petition the union had earlier submitted against the present and past UNILORIN Vice Chancellors.
In the alternative, however, the union called on the Ministry of Education, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences commission (ICPC) to swing into action in order to avoid insinuation of complicity.
The union warned the federal government against claiming to be waging anti-corruption war while remaining silent on several whistle blowing over allegations of fraud by the present and immediate past Vice Chancellor of UNILORIN.
ASUU in its petition had alleged that the Vice Chancellor committed fraud, corruption, plagiarism, nepotism, lawlessness, and other heinous acts and unlawful appointment and promotion without following due process, as well as defrauding students of millions of naira.
