After over three decades of iconic moments, Las Vegas’ famed Mirage Hotel and Casino is set to close its doors on July 17th. The announcement, made in May, marks the end of an era for the beloved resort.
As the Mirage prepares for its closure, it is wrapping up a spectacular $1.6 million week-long giveaway. This grand event, part of a Nevada gaming policy, provided casino players with a chance to win cash prizes from a $1.6 million mandatory payout.
From July 9th, gamers participated in the “Progressive Finale Cash Giveaway,” vying for over $1.6 million in cash prizes through slot machines and table games. Visitors had the opportunity to win $1.2 million in slot machine prizes and $400,000 at table games.

Players could try their luck at slots using their free Hard Rock Unity Card, which was required for each drawing. Hourly drawings took place in the afternoons earlier this month and concluded on Tuesday with the final $100,000 payout.
Why is the Mirage Closing?
The Mirage Hotel and Casino announced its closure on May 15th via Facebook. However, this is not the end of its legacy. The resort will reopen in 2027 as Hard Rock Las Vegas, promising a new era of entertainment, innovation, and world-class hospitality.
“We look forward to the beginning of an exciting journey into a new era as Hard Rock Las Vegas will ignite the Strip with entertainment, innovation, and world-class hospitality,” the post read.
