Man Stabbed to Death Over Food Dispute in Delta State

Date:

A tragic incident occurred in the Ogwanja area of Sapele, Delta State, on New Year’s Day, where an unidentified man was fatally stabbed following a dispute over a plate of rice.

According to eyewitness accounts, the altercation began as an argument between the deceased and another individual in the area. The disagreement escalated into a physical confrontation, during which the suspect allegedly broke a bottle and stabbed the victim multiple times.

Despite efforts by local vigilantes to rush the victim to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries due to excessive bleeding. His remains have since been deposited at a mortuary.

Residents of the area have declined to disclose the identities of both the suspect and the deceased. Similarly, the local vigilante group has remained silent about the individuals involved.

Efforts to obtain a statement from the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, have been unsuccessful, as calls and text messages to his phone remain unanswered at the time of this report.

Investigations into the incident are expected to continue.
