Kaduna Acting Gov. urges women to inculcate good morals in children
The acting Governor of Kaduna State, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, has urged Muslim Women to ensure that their children are well brought up according to the injunction of Islam.
Balarabe gave the advice in an interview with newsmen during the 8th Annual National Conference of the Initiative for Muslim Women of Nigeria on Thursday in Kaduna.
Balarabe, who was also the Special Guest at the event, explained that, as mothers, women are entrusted with the task of inculcating good behaviour, virtues and moulding the character of children.
According to her, women also have an important role to play in curbing insecurity in the society.
Balarabe, who spoke on the theme: “The Role of Islam in Curbing Insecurity”, said that drug abuse was a major driver of many heinous crimes being committed in societies.
She charged mothers to give priority attention to parenting, moral training, and religious education of their children.
The acting governor said that government was spending huge resources on security , adding that addressing the root cause must begin from the home.
“I urge women to take more interest in seeing that their children are brought up according to the injunction of Islam. Anything that we need is in the Quran and Sunnah.
“One of the issues that I pointed out is the issue of drug abuse amongst our youth.
“ I want them to look at it critically and look at the implication for security and see what solution we can have, from the lessons that we have learned while dealing with these children and move our state forward,” she said.
