Abubakar stated that economic empowerment was one of the most powerful tools for women to achieve their potential and advance their rights.
“It is noteworthy that investing in women’s economic empowerment is a strategy towards gender equality, poverty eradication and inclusive economic growth,” she added.
The commissioner commended Gov. Mai Mala Buni’s administration for its efforts and support to the ministry through laudable programmes and policies that promote women’s development and children’s welfare.
“In most of the interventions, particular emphasis was placed on the vulnerable groups and rural women to alleviate poverty among them and improve their economic status for self-reliance,” she explained.
The commissioner on behalf of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to UN-Women and Japanese government for supporting women and girls in the state.
