Abdulsalami Abubakar, Nigeria’s former Head of State, has spoken on the break up of Nigeria urging youths to uphold the legacies of the founding fathers so as to bind the country in unity.
The retire army general made this known at the launch of Emeka ANyaoku’s Institute of International Studies and Diplomacy at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Anambra State, yesterday, stressing that by all means Nigeria’s diversity must be upheld for the existence of the nation.
In attendance at the launch was the State Governor, Willie Obiano, Gen. Thoephilus Danjuma, former Minister of Defence and Obi Ezekwesili, former Minister of Education
Earlier in his welcome address, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku, said the diplomatic service of Anyaoku informed the choice of his naming of the institute after him.
Responding, Chief Emeka Anyaoku expressed appreciation to the university for the honor conferred on him in his lifetime.
Anyaoku said his major challenge had been his inability to document his personal papers like his predecessors in the Commonwealth, which he said the institute had provided the platform for him to accomplish.
