Cool biz! Nigerian government dishes out N325m to whistle blowers
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has said the Federal Government has paid the sum of N325 million to whistle blowers since the adoption of the policy.
The payment has also been confirmed by the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adesina.
Recall the National Assembly recently passed the “Whistle Blower Protection Bill“, an Act to Protect Persons Making Disclosures for the Public Interest and Others from Reprisals, to Provide for the Matters Disclosed to be Properly Investigated and Dealt with and for other Purposes Related Therewith.
Accordingly, the lawmakers has also approved a measure to discourage false whistle blowing with 5 years jail for anyone guilty of raising false alarms.
