Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has proffer a major factor that would bring about stability in the country, saying he believes in the principle free elections/

The Acting President also called for entrenchment of free and fair elections in Nigeria, emphasizing that the freedom to elect leaders should be strictly adhere to and not just word of mouth.

Osinbajo made the call at the State House in Abuja while receiving delegation of ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commision, and its chairman, Prof. Mahmud Yakubu.

“We believe in the fundamental principles of free elections and we believe that the only way to ensure stability in the society is to ensure that people have the right to elect their leaderships, but not just a right on paper but a right in practice and the only way by which that right can be manifested in practice is by free and fair elections”, he said.

Responding to Osinbojo, Yakubu who is also the INEC Chairman described good voter register as a crucial means of achieving free and fair election.
