The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has confirmed the arrest of a teacher seen in a viral video allegedly assaulting a three-year-old boy at Christ-Mitots School in Ikorodu.
The disturbing video, shared online by a user identified as Oyindamola (#dammiedammie35), shows the teacher, identified as Stella Nwadigo, slapping the young boy, Abayomi Michael. The footage quickly drew public outrage, raising concerns about the safety of children in schools.
Reacting to the incident, the DSVA released a statement on Wednesday, thanking citizens for bringing the matter to their attention.
“We appreciate everyone who highlighted the disturbing incident involving a teacher physically abusing a 3-year-old boy,” the agency stated. “The teacher has been arrested by Owutu FSU, and investigations are underway.”
The agency emphasized its commitment to ensuring schools remain safe and nurturing environments for children.
“Institutions of learning must be safe, warm, and protective environments. The State Government is resolute in enforcing strict regulations, holding offenders accountable, and maintaining a zero-tolerance policy for any form of abuse,” the statement added.
