A Katsina woman, Malama Abdulkadir-Yanmama, has received a N500,000 reward from the Katsina State Government after she returned N748,320 mistakenly deposited in her bank account. The funds were intended for the Federal Government’s Home Grown School Feeding Programme.
The Executive Director of the Katsina State Social Investment Programme Agency, Mudassir Nasir, presented the reward on behalf of the state government. He praised Abdulkadir-Yanmama’s honesty, recounting how she approached the agency to report the erroneous payment.
“She received an alert with a narration for vendor payments under the school feeding programme,” Nasir explained. “Realizing she wasn’t part of the programme, she reported the issue to our office. Upon reviewing her bank statement, and with verification from the auditor-general’s office, we confirmed her claims.”
