- Federal University and Medical Centre to Boost Education and Healthcare in Southern Kaduna
The Southern Kaduna Journalists’ Forum (SKJF) has commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the establishment of a Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and a Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in the region.
In a statement issued by its chairman, Ango Bally, the forum praised the collaborative efforts of Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung (Kaduna South), and Hon. Amos Magaji (Zango Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency) for championing the projects.
“The Federal University of Applied Sciences, sponsored by Senator Katung, and the Federal Medical Centre, initiated by Hon. Magaji, are transformative milestones that will drive socio-economic and educational development in Southern Kaduna,” Bally stated.
The university, which will also feature a campus in Manchok, Kaura Local Government Area, is expected to provide quality education, foster technical expertise, and promote innovation. Bally added that the Federal Medical Centre would significantly improve healthcare access for Southern Kaduna and neighboring communities.
The SKJF expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his “Renewed Hope Agenda” and Vice President Kashim Shettima, who announced the approval during a condolence visit to Southern Kaduna on December 28, 2024. During the visit, Shettima assured residents of continued federal collaboration with the state government to enhance road infrastructure and other developmental projects.
The forum emphasized the importance of unity among political leaders, applauding Governor Sani, Senator Katung, and Hon. Magaji for setting aside partisan differences to prioritize the region’s development.
“As custodians of public opinion, we pledge to support initiatives that promote peace, unity, and progress in Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State, and Nigeria as a whole,” the SKJF said.
These new projects are seen as pivotal to addressing the region’s longstanding challenges in education and healthcare, marking a new chapter in Southern Kaduna’s development journey.
