1.The Ondo State House of Assembly has sacked the caretaker chairmen of the 18 Local Governments councils in the state.

The House said the dissolution, which takes effect from Thursday, June 13, 2019, equally affects the supervisory councillors in the state.

2.Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (Abia South) is the Minority Leader of the 9th Senate.

Abaribe emerged during the meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Maitama residence of the party’s National Chairman, Uche Secondus.

3.Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, on Thursday called for the impeachment of Senator Ovie-Omo-Agege as the Deputy Senate President.

It said the credibility of the 9th Senate would be eroded if Omo-Agege was not impeached, adding that the National Assembly would remain a “mere political circus ring and a charade.”

4.The Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission has described the claim by the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, that he was not the accounting officer of the Kano Emirate Council as a misrepresentation of facts.

This is contained in a preliminary report of the Commission on the investigation being carried out in respect of the alleged misappropriation of over N3.4 billion by the Kano Emirate Council.

5.Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court Abuja on Thursday granted DAAR Communications Plc and the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) leave to settle their dispute out of court.

The judge granted the leave for the out of court settlement after Mr Maliki Sylvanus, holding brief for Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, counsel to Dokpesi, made an oral application.

6.President Muhammadu Buhari, Thursday, in Abuja restated Nigeria’s support for the people of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, SADR, and their quest for self-determination and independence.

At an audience granted the President of SADR, Brahim Ghali at the State House, the Nigerian leader stressed that the country’s position is in line with the several resolutions of the African Union (AU) and the United Nations (UN) on the matter.

7.The Imo West Senator, Rochas Okorocha, on Thursday, declared that Igbo presidency does not exist.

Okorocha made the assertion while warning people of the South-East against the misconception of the term “Igbo presidency”.

8.The member representing Isiala Mbano State Constituency, Hon Chiji Collins, has been elected unopposed as Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly..

Collins was nominated by the member representing Ehime Mbano State Constituency, Hon Lawman Duruji of the Action Alliance (AA) and seconded by the member representing Obowo State Constituency, Hon Kennedy Ibeh also of the AA.

9.Veteran actor, Fasasi Olabanke, popularly known as Dagunro has passed on.

The actor, who hailed from Osun State and known for his roles in epic Yoruba movies died Thursday morning after battling unknown ailment.

10.The management of the University of Ibadan (UI) has insisted that their cut-off mark remains 200 despite the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) and stakeholders of higher institutions pegging it at 160.

UI, on its part, said it will have nothing to do with the national minimum cut-off mark.
