1.South-South Vice President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Bishop Simeon Okah, has lamented the treatment meted to Senator Dino Melaye (Kogi West). He said that Nigeria needs people like the lawmaker.
Okah, who is also the head of Flock of Christ Mission, Warri, Delta State, equally warned that, henceforth, any member of his church that has not obtained his Permanent Voter Cards “would not be allowed to worship.”
2.President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, has said that the people of Southern and Middle-belt regions of Nigeria will only vote for a presidential candidate whose political party has restructuring in its manifesto.
According to Nwodo, Ndigbo will not fight any war again, but will partner with other ethnic groups with similar ideology, to continuously engage the authorities through diplomatic warfare, in ensuring that Nigeria is restructured into a true federation as envisioned by the founding fathers of the country.
3.The Chairman of the Benue State Traditional Council and Tor Tiv IV, Prof. James Ayatse, on Saturday, declared that it was high time the middle belt region produced the president of Nigeria.
Prof Ayatse said it was the turn of central Nigeria to produce the president, after years of sacrifice for national unity and stability.
4.Unknown gunmen yesterday murdered the APC Ward 10 Chairmanship Candidate (Jeremi III) in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, Jeremiah Ogjoveta during the All Progressives Congress, APC, ward congress.
A photograph of the victim obtained by our reporter indicates that he was shot and left to die with serious gunshot injuries.
5.The General Overseer Worldwide of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, said elections may not hold in Nigeria next year if the killings in the country continue.
Adeboye, who stated this during the church’s May Holy Ghost Service on Friday, however, said his position was borne out of reasoning and not a prophecy.
6.The Emir of Kwandere, Alhaji Ahmadu Al-Makura, was during the weekend attacked by his subjects over land tussle in Nassarawa.
The Emir confirmed to journalists on Saturday that the people attacked him after the Friday prayer in Kwandere area of Lafia, Nasarawa State capital.
7.Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has stated that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are not thieves.
Osinbajo, who spoke this while monitoring the APC ward congresses in Eti Osa local government area of Lagos state, insisted that the current government had done its best.
8.Uche Secondus, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says the party will not be intimidated ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Secondus, who spoke at the PDP South-West Zonal rally on Saturday in Osogobo, said that the party was on a rescue mission, adding that members would work hard to win the 2019 general elections.
9.Wind storm accompanied with heavy rain, on Saturday, blew down a network mast, which fell on a restaurant building in Jalingo, Taraba state capital, killing four persons, including an official driver to a commissioner in the State and three girls identified as workers in the restaurant.
The wind storm also killed a man from Maadasa, an area in Jalingo.
10.Lauretta Onochie, the social media aide to Mr. President on Saturday has said that Nigeria’s money is safer in the hands of President Muhammadu Buharia and his vice, Prof Yemi Osinbajo.
She noted that with this uncommon virtue, Buhari has more advantage over other prospective candidates interested in the presidential race.
