1.The Nigeria Police on Wednesday arraigned the embattled Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye, before a magistrate court in Wuse zone 2, Abuja.
The senator, who was arrested by the SARS and subsequently detained over allegations bothering on criminal conspiracy, was brought to the court on a stretcher.
2.The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris on Wednesday failed to honour a summon by the senate over the ordeal of Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye.
Idris, who was expected to face the senate, instead sent a Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Joshak Habila to represent him.
3.The Biafra Zionists Federation, BZF, on Wednesday asked all indigenes of the defunct Biafra to return home on May 30, 2018, which coincides with the date late Biafra Warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu had declared a Republic of Biafra decades ago.
The self-acclaimed President of the Biafra Zionists, Barr. Benjamin Onwuka boasted that his group would be at the Enugu Government House on the said day to hoist the Biafra flag.
4.The death has been announce of one of Nigeria’s most prominent actresses, Hauwa Maina.
Hauwa, known for Hausa movies, died yesterday at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) in Kano, after a protracted illness and will be buried today in Kaduna.
5.Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President, on Wednesday lambasted the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, saying that Nigerians had never had it this bad since the civil war
Abubakar, who was at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, secretariat during a consultation visit in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, regretted that those who were making Nigeria unbearable for its citizens today, were not part of the struggles towards the actualization of democracy.
6.Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has denied the allegation that he is supporting the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Obasanjo, through his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi on Wednesday in Ogun State, described the report as malicious and unfounded, stressing that his position on kicking out Buhari from power in 2019 remains unchanged.
7.The Naira on Wednesday closed at N362 to the dollar, weaker than N363 posted on Monday at the parallel market.
Report says the Pound Sterling and the Euro closed at N505 and N442, respectively, while at the Bureau De Change (BDC) window, the Naira exchanged at N362 to the dollar. The Pound Sterling and the Euro closed N504 and N436, respectively.
8.Troops have captured another killer herdsman in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
The herdsman, identified as Idi Gemun was captured at the scene of the recurring deadly attacks.
9.The Ondo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr Vincent Jack, is dead.
Jack died on Tuesday after battling with a recurring ailment.
