In recent days, Facebook users have noticed a strange change to the app’s logo on their phones. Instead of the familiar blue background with a white lowercase “f,” some users are seeing a blue “f” on a black background. This unexpected shift has sparked curiosity and confusion online, with some describing the new look as “sinister” or “evil.”
A Reddit thread titled “What’s wrong with the Facebook logo?” highlighted the issue, with users sharing screenshots and discussing the unexpected color change. One user mentioned, “The color has become weird with the latest version. I’ve deleted and reinstalled it twice. Still hasn’t fixed the issue. Any suggestions?”
The change appears to be inconsistent across devices. While some users with phones in dark mode are reporting different color schemes, such as a white background with a blue “f,” others, noticed the black logo after updating both the Facebook app and their iPhone’s iOS to version 17.6.1. Interestingly, Keller’s phone was not in dark mode when she observed the change.
Despite the growing number of reports, the color alteration has not affected all users. Some users, for example, still see the original blue-and-white logo on their app icons.
Speculation online suggests that the change could be due to a tech update or a glitch, though there has been no official explanation from Meta, Facebook’s parent company. Some users on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) have expressed frustration, with one calling the new logo “irritating,” while others are simply left wondering why the familiar Facebook blue has turned so dark.
As the mystery continues, Facebook users are eagerly awaiting an official response from Meta to clarify whether the change is intentional or a temporary glitch.
