The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has named Éric Sékou Chelle as the new manager of the Super Eagles, bringing fresh leadership to the national team following the resignation of Finidi George. Chelle was born on November 11, 1977, in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, to a French father and Malian mother. The 46-year-old holds dual French-Malian nationality. Standing at 1.75 meters tall, he is a retired center-back.

During his playing career, Chelle was a commanding defender known for his leadership and aerial dominance. He began his professional journey with French club Martigues and later played for Valenciennes, where he made 121 appearances and scored 10 goals. He also represented RC Lens, Istres, and Chamois Niortais before retiring in 2014.

Although eligible to represent France, Chelle chose Mali, earning five caps between 2004 and 2006.

After hanging up his boots, Chelle moved into coaching. He started as an assistant at GS Consolat from 2014 to 2016 before taking the head coach role. He later managed FC Martigues (2017–2021) and US Boulogne in 2021.
