Elon Musk’s Daughter Plans to Leave U.S. After Trump’s Re-Election Win, Citing LGBTQ+ Concerns

Date:

Vivian Jenna Wilson, Elon Musk’s estranged 20-year-old daughter, has announced plans to leave the United States following President-elect Donald Trump’s re-election. Wilson, who cut ties with her billionaire father in 2022, has openly criticized Trump’s policies, particularly those impacting the LGBTQ+ community.

Wilson, who legally changed her name and gender to distance herself from Musk, expressed that Trump’s return to office has confirmed her decision to move abroad. Writing on Threads, Wilson shared, “I’ve thought this for a while, but yesterday confirmed it for me. I don’t see my future being in the United States.”

Wilson’s comments reflect her concerns over potential anti-LGBTQ+ policies. She added, “Even if he’s only in office for 4 years, even if the anti-trans regulations don’t happen, the people who willingly voted this in are not going anywhere anytime soon.”

As one of Musk’s six children with his first wife, Justine Wilson, Vivian has been outspoken about their strained relationship. She has accused Musk of being unsupportive of her transition, while Musk has attributed their distance to ideological influences at elite schools, like the Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences, which he believes has fostered a divide between them. He claimed in his biography by Walter Isaacson that his daughter went “beyond socialism to being a full communist,” with critical views on wealth and power.

Musk, who has publicly supported Trump, remains one of the world’s wealthiest individuals with an estimated net worth of $285.6 billion.
