The sale of 2017 Direct Entry (DE) application forms and registration of foreign candidates will begin July 10, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced.
Head of Public Relation of JAMB, Mr. Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this to News Agency of Nigeria on Monday, saying that the registration process for Direct Entry was clearly stated in the Unified Tertiary Matruculation Examination (UTME) which was just concluded.
Mr. Banjamin said that candidates interested in applying for DE are expected to possess Advanced Level, Diploma or its equivalent. He said DE application is for candidates who have higher qualification than Ordinary Levels and want to further their education at Universities.
Foreign student are to present proof that they have been resident abroad.
“If you are applying as foreign student, then you must present proof of abroad residency for at least 6 months. Foreign candidates will write their examinations in foreign centres.
“To be qualified as a foreign candidate, you must have schooled there or at least have your secondary schooling outside Nigeria. If someone just fly to London and register, such person is not eligible as foreign candidate.
JAMB Head of Public Relation also noted that candidates who failed in the previous examination would not be allowed to register in foreign countries, unless the stipulated guidelines were met.
Mr. Benjamin said DE form is still N5,000 as it was sold last year, but the board is yet to fix price for application form for foreign candidates.
However, he hinted that the Board might fix $100 (N31,525.00) for African candidates and $150 (47,287.50) for non-African candidates.
