Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has once again reiterated his decision not to go back to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying ‘goodnight to PDP’.

Obasanjo, a founder member of PDP and was elected twice on the party platform, last year renounced his membership of the party.

He made the goodnight message while addressing journalists, after accessing some projects in Taraba State. He dissociated the claim which says he was planning to return to PDP.

The former President said: “In the part of the country where I come from, there is a saying that you cannot say ‘good night’ and come back to say ‘good evening’ in the same place. So for me, it is good night for the Peoples Democratic Party and that’s all”

Obasanjo tore the PDP membership card 16th February, 2015 in the presence of party members.

He however said he trust President Muhammadu Buhari will not fail Nigerian, but will surmount the present challenges.

Obasanjo who had been supportive to Buhari since the pre-election era, said, “So far Buhari has not disappointed us. I trust him, he will not fail Nigerians. I know he will overcome the challenges the country is currently facing,” the ex-President added.
